Isaac George, in his own words
If he could speak to us today, Isaac George might describe his life as follows.

I was born 20 February 1635/6 in Isle of Wight County to parents John George and Jane Cole.
My wife was likely Hester Fawdon. Born in 1640, she was the daughter of George Fawdon who gave me 100 acres 27 October 1654.  Then such a gift was generally reserved for sons-in-law because a colonial father could not put land in the hands of a married daughter.
In 1685 Hester and I sold the land I inherited from my father to Lt. Col. James Powell. My father’s will said his grandson John George should be “brought up to reading and writing.” Yet that evidently that did not apply to me because both Hester and I made our “marks” on the indenture.
After Hester’s death 8 February 1685/6, I moved to Middlesex County where I died in 1689.
