Thomas Lewis II, in his own words
If he could speak to us today, Thomas Lewis II might describe his life as follows.

Named for my father, and likely his eldest son, I lived in that part of Charles City County south of the James that became Prince George County in 1703. I was born about 1675—old enough that they called my father senior in 1704. Because most records of both counties burned, I can say little about my family.
My will naming my children no longer exists, but records do reveal that I was dead by 29 August 1711 when John Gilliam, Nathaniel Tatum, and Charles Gilliam inventoried the estate of Thomas Lewis Jr. My widow, Susan, brought that inventory and my estate accounts to court 13 September 1711.
Our children were likely Edward and Ann, grandchildren named in the 1716 will of my father. Edward died in 1739 leaving a widow, Martha. Because Nicholas Vaughan of Prince George and Amelia counties had a wife named Ann and sons, Thomas and Lewis, his wife was likely my daughter, Ann, who named two of her sons for me.

We have not identified Thomas’ wife, Susanna.
